Democratic candidate Vangie Williams (VA-01) continues to receive support from a growing list of citizens and community leaders, including from citizens across the country.
Mark S. Schwartz, a mayoral candidate for Dallas, Oregon, has endorsed Vangie Williams’ bid for the 2018 Democratic nomination in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District.
“The thought of Vangie Williams as one of our congresswomen would restore my faith in government of the people, by the people, for the people,” said Schwartz.
“Vangie, you have my full faith and support! Now go win this!” exclaimed Schwartz.
Irene Brodsky from Brooklyn writes, “She is the best for our educators, for the students [and] for the parents.”
“So glad you are running for office and hope you win, Mrs. Williams,” said Laura Atkins from Illinois. “There is no one more exemplary of what so many Americans fight to do so honestly.”
A common theme amongst supporters is Williams’ likeability and connection to people. Voters point out that she is a real person with real life experiences who wants to solve problems to help people of all backgrounds. Her honesty and candor make her a relatable candidate. It’s a quality that has captured support for Williams from people outside her congressional district.
“I’m running to be the people’s congresswoman,” said Williams. “What’s important to me is that people see me as a representative they believe in; someone they trust will fight for them on Capitol Hill. I’m thankful for the support of people in the district and across the country.”
Williams is committed to fighting for an economy that works for everyone and ensuring families in the 1st District have access to world-class healthcare. Through investments in education and transportation, and by reinvesting in our communities, Williams aims to bring jobs to the 1st District and help our hometown heroes.
The groundswell of support from citizens is a sign that people want new leadership in Washington. Voters in Virginia will make their choice on the Democratic candidate to face Rob Wittman in the general election in the primary election on June 12.
