Today, Ana Arroyo, a community activist and leader in the Latinx community, endorsed Vangie Williams’ bid for the 2018 Democratic nomination in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District. Arroyo’s endorsement adds to the growing list of citizens and community leaders who support Williams’ vision and historic run for the U.S House of Representatives.
“I’m endorsing Vangie for being charismatic, a great mother and her overall professionalism,” said Arroyo. Her expertise working on federal government projects lets me know she can hit the ground running and get things done. She knows the struggles of everyday people and I believe she can make a big change on Capitol Hill.”
Arroyo, a resident of Spotsylvania County, has concerns about housing, wages and the lack of health insurance for the Latinx community.
“Kids do poorly in school at all levels and have limited help because their parents are working two to three jobs at a time to provide for the family,” said Arroyo. “I want someone that’s going to help people of all cultures. Our kids need a good education and families need healthcare and good-paying jobs,” she added.
Arroyo is one of many citizens who supports Williams’ agenda to create an economy that works for everyone, and ensure families have access to world-class healthcare. Through investments and improvements in education and transportation, and by reinvesting in our communities, Williams aims to bring jobs to the 1st District and help our hometown heroes.
”Her plan is something I can get behind,” said Arroyo. “I strongly trust Vangie Williams to help my community and all peoples.”
“Ana’s support tells me that my message resonates with hardworking people. Her endorsement is very humbling as I seek to represent all the people of my district and bring legislation to Washington that directly reflects their needs,” said Williams. “It’s of the utmost importance we put people first so our communities receive the resources necessary to live prosperously.”
“When elected, I will work closely with all of our local community activists, city and county officials, and our elected state representatives to ensure that all Virginians have a fair shot at the American Dream,” added Williams.
“It’s important to recognize that every citizen has an important voice in this election.
