FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Today, Delegate Marcus Simon (D-53rd) has endorsed Democratic candidate Vangie Williams for Virginia’s 1st Congressional District. Simon adds to the growing list of elected officials and community leaders backing Williams’ candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives.
“Vangie’s deep commitment to public service and proven leadership abilities are exactly what the 1st District needs,” said Simon. “In Congress, she’ll fight for her constituents while standing up to those who would try to trample our shared progressive values. I have no doubt that Vangie is the best choice to represent the people of the 1st District.”
“I am honored to receive Delegate Simon’s endorsement,” said Williams. “His commitment to early childhood education, economic development and improvements to our transportation infrastructure are in alignment with what I’m fighting to make happen on Capitol Hill. I look forward to working with Marcus to bring about economic growth and vital services for all Virginians.”
Del. Simon joins Senator Rosalyn Dance, Senator Louise Lucas and Delegates Luke Torian and Jennifer Carroll Foy in their support for Williams. The Williams campaign has also received endorsements from citizens, community leaders and national organizations, including: MoveOn.org, the National Organization of Women, Emerge America and the Broader Representation Advocacy Team (BRAT-PAC). Williams will face Rep. Rob Wittman in November for the U.S. House of Representatives seat in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District.
