Today, Delegate Luke Torian (D-52nd) endorsed Vangie Williams for the Democratic party’s nomination to challenge Rep. Rob Wittman (R) in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District. Delegate Torian adds to the growing list of elected officials and community leaders backing Williams’ candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives.
“Vangie is a champion of the people,” said Torian. “She is an authentic leader with a vision that will improve the lives of Virginians and Americans everywhere. Her experience, qualifications and real-world solutions makes her the best candidate to serve the 1st District. I proudly endorse her candidacy for Congress.”
“Vangie doesn’t just talk the talk,” added Torian. “She walks the walk because she’s the real deal.”
“Receiving the endorsement of Delegate Torian is an honor,” said Williams. “He is a true leader that knows how to connect with all peoples regardless of party, income or ideology. From helping families and protecting our schools to strengthening our economy through business and accessibility, Del. Torian is a true servant of the community.”
Torian – a five-term delegate – serves the 52nd District which includes Quantico, Dumfries, Triangle, Montclair, Southbridge and Woodbridge. As the House Budget Conferee, Torian is responsible for ensuring a fair and balanced budget for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He is a well-known and respected bipartisan leader who puts the needs of everyday people first.
After meeting Williams, Torian noted her experience with the federal government and the trust leadership in Washington has in her abilities. She understands how the government works, what it takes to pass legislation and how to work with people at every level to solve problems.
“I like that her priority is creating an economy that works for everyone and investing in our communities,” said Torian. “She has also made affordable and accessible healthcare a focus of her campaign as well. With her background, we need that kind of leadership on Capitol Hill.”
With less than 20 days left until the June 12 primary election, Torian’s endorsement provides a pivotal swing to the race as Senator Dance has also endorsed Williams. The growing coalition of citizens, community leaders and elected officials supporting Williams is a great sign for the campaign.
