Today, Corey Chatham has endorsed Vangie Williams’ bid for the 2018 Democratic nomination in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District. Chatham’s endorsement adds to list of citizens and community leaders that support Williams’ candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives.
“I think Vangie would be a great asset to our district. She would embody the morals of honesty, integrity and have a genuine concern and passion for all people and their well-being,” said Chatham.
Chatham is a resident of Ruther Glen, Va. and owns Century 1 Motors in Tappahannock, Va. He trains youth to do light mechanical work to get them interested in automotive mechanics. As a mentor he provides career opportunities for apprentices and teaches young people lifelong skills. Chatham is also a professional competitive fisherman for the T-H Marine Bass Fishing League and participates in events for youth fighting, youth bowling and charity fishing events for veterans.
His wife Ashley is a medical biller and insurance specialist for medical orthotics and prosthetics.
In an email to Williams, Chatham wrote:
“I think you would be a great representation of our area and would help move our district into a safer and more prosperous region. You treat everybody with dignity and respect. You listen to all issues and weigh all opinions not just pushing your own agenda. You are a great voice and a very understanding, caring and compassionate woman.”
“People like Corey are the voices our leaders should be listening to,” said Williams. “I’m running to represent them and stand up for the average citizen who’s often ignored on Capitol Hill. I am humbled to receive this endorsement.”
Williams, a proponent of providing meaningful skills-training for middle and high school students, would like to see more small business owners offer apprenticeship opportunities like Chatham. Investments in education and innovation is part of Williams’ agenda to create an economy for everyone and bring good jobs to the district.
With the Democratic primary being less than a week away on June 12, Williams continues to receive endorsements from voters who believe in her vision for the 1st District. Voters will make their choice next Tuesday for the Democratic candidate to face Rob Wittman in the general election.
